Last Days’ Sketches Out and About

Derelict Boat
Somebody very neatly painted ‘MEDIASPREE’ where the ship’s name used to be, thus referring to the campaign ‘Mediaspree versenken’ (‘Sink Mediaspree’). This campaign is directed against plans to build new commercial buildings (under the heading of ‘Mediaspree’) using up much of the banks of the Spree, thus taking away access to the river from private citizens and speeding up gentrification of the area. I feel like in drawing this I almost completely forgot the lessons about light and shade and their portrayal from this day. Alas, just a reminder to think before I paint in the colors. On my way back from that spot I crossed the bridge you can see in the distance, Oberbaumbrücke, where a young woman was busking:

The sketch above is of a squatted house called Köpi, near to the river on the other side of the bridge. The rest are more or less random sights from walking and riding around.

And last and least, two pages filled in Berlin museums: The one to the left from a trip the the Gemäldegallerie (portraying one of my favourite hands, which belongs to Boticelli’s Madonna and Child with Eight Angels), the one on the right was done from the Pergamon frieze in the museum of the same name. I’d like to go there and draw more from sculptures and all that old stuff they’ve go piled up..
