Wismarplatz in early Autumn or: Images of a Picture
- How it came from the scanner.
- The very bright white of the paper made properly white in the scan.
- A foto of the same drawing without postproduction. While the scans are a bit too bright, and don’t convey the depth of the darks, this is much duller than it looks in real life.
- A detail shot from straight above.
- The same detail shot from an oblique angel, showing the irregular deposition of gum arabic, which makes those shiny lines where it is most concentrated. A scanner never picks these up, but they add texture to a watercolor that I wouldn’t want to miss, especially in shiny foliage like this.
- Another oblique angle.
- And another straight one. The colors look at the same time duller and brighter than in real life.
